Beauty of Decay

I would imagine there are some other urban explorer-types on the forum and/or those that enjoy some beautiful pictures of ruins. So, without further ado, I present the following sites for your viewing enjoyment.
Opacity
.
Reactor4.be
(Chernobyl-area photos)
Forgotten Detroit
Rock on.

There are some really good photos on these websites but you do have to click around to find them. They are kind of sad and haunting but do make you realize what kind of environment exists after a disaster happens. Here is a link to photos of an abondoned Resort in Hawaii. It is where Elvis Presley stayed and filmed part of Blue Hawaii. It is interesting that a luxury resort in Hawaii was abandonded.

Rivet, thanks for sharing these links! There are some really haunting images. It is fascinating to see the changes that take place after disasters. It is eery and at the same time...beautiful.

To quote the immortal words of Skinny Puppy, "rot and assimilate."

I've seen Opacity before (showed Worcester State Hospital to my students) but haven't seen the others. Thank you.

We have been studying Russia, so I showed my students some pictures from the Reactor4.be (Chernobyl-area photos) site. They are creepy.
Especially the doll ones and the classrooms.
My kids told me there is a horror movie coming out or already out called Chernobyl Diary.

I showed my student's Pennhurst State School today.
Several were really getting interested.

That looks like a very interesting town. I have really enjoyed visiting old ghost towns.

If you interested in an entire ghost town instead of just a building, here's something to try:
It's built by the Chinese in Angola and nobody lives in it. More information here:
