What's your shotgun?
« on: June 10, 2012, 06:41:08 PM »
Hay, just taking an infomal pole on what types of shotguns you guys like. I have 2 Mavrick 88's and 2 NEF,H&R's. All in 12guage with 3" chambers. Love the Mavricks, one of the best low cost shotguns on the market  The old H&R is tougher than a 5cent steak. All will serve me well for what I got them for. So guys and girls, what's your shotgun of choise?

For preparedness purposes, a couple of Mossberg 500s (12 and 20-gauge).  For other reasons, the Ithaca Mag-10 (10-gauge) and Stevens 511 SXS (12).

Oh, it does.  Since its gas-operate, not as much as you would think.  Still, after a morning of patterning different loads, I had a massive bruise on my shoulder. ;)

My 12's are bad enough. One H&R has no recoil pad. Ouch!

Ouch.  I had one of those super light, single-shot 12s (2¾/3") back in my early days.  Recoil was ... spunky. ;)

I just keep them as backup for the Mav 88's.

I have a ton of shotguns, but my two go-to guns for home defense are my Remington 870 and Mossberg 500, both 12 gauge. It doesn't get anymore practical or reliable than that. I'm actually in the process of customizing the Mossberg for my wife. 18" barrel, synthetic furniture, and a 12" LOP stock are all in the works. Oh, and a VERY valuable tool that a lot of people overlook on a shotgun: a sling.

The custom Mossberg sounds nice.  Maybe post some pics when the project is done?

Will do.

And Jerry, great idea on the orange follower. That is something I have not considered.

I am a snob... But I only shoot my Benelli's.. I have two m2's one tricked out for 3-gun one bone stock.. LOVE them.. Bought my wife a mossburg that works well, but it's not as smooth as the m2's.
